Do I have to be Vegan/Plant-based?

Not at all! We do encourage and counsel towards a whole food plant-based diet due to the strong scientific evidence of increased health including reversal of many chronic diseases. However, there is no requirement, this is your journey and your path is your own.

Will I loose weight?

Emerge Nutrition is a weight neutral practice. We believe that societies view of weight loss creates unhealthy relationships with self and food. We want to address the root causes of illness and discomfort. Symptoms, like weight gain are seen only as clues to what is going on in your body and mind. We focus on long-term health.

What are the best SUPPLEMENTS to take?

We will NEVER suggest a supplement to anyone without first reviewing their medical history. The supplement industry often takes advantage of people’s desire for a quick fix to health issues and creates a distraction from the most critical part of a person’s total long term health, DIET AND LIFESTYLE. Recommendations for supplements are done after a full assessment and are prescribed from a practitioner grade source (powered by Fullscript.com).

Will my plan include eliminations?

All plans will include some eliminations, but it is our job, along with you, to address concerns and obstacles around nutrition and lifestyle modification. We are here to support you and create ways to make these changes as easy as possible for you.

What are your thoughts on [insert diet here]?

Most modern fad diets, like Keto and Paleo, were created to address a specific illness. Thought we may agree with certain principles of these diets for certain people, we believe that on a whole, they miss the mark on our goals, which is long-term sustainable health. Please never begin a diet without first discussing with a nutritionist and/or doctor who reviews your COMPLETE MEDICAL HISTORY.

Are fat, carbs, or salt bad for you?

This oversimplified categorization is the source of wide misinformation in the nutrition and wellness field. When we villainize one macro, or nutrient, or food, we fail to look at the whole picture or address WHY it might have a detrimental effect and which aspect. There are many different types of fats, carbs etc, and it is only with understanding what their role is in the body that we can categorize which TYPE is poor, better or BEST for YOU.
